peuterey giaccone uomo Real Madrid rest Cristiano Ronaldo vs
The FC crew cast doubt on Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United, despite his recent dip in form and reports of tension at Real Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been rested for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey quarterfinal second leg at home to Leganes, but centre back Sergio Ramos is set to feature for the first time in 2018.
Ronaldo left the pitch during Sunday’s 7 1 win over Deportivo La Coruna with a cut to his face, and had a swollen, blackened eye when he returned to training on Tuesday.
However, he is not expected to miss the weekend fixture at third placed Valencia.
A Madrid squad announcement said Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Marcelo would also sit the game out with Madrid 1 0 up from the first leg.
Youngsters Theo Hernandez, Marcos Llorente, first leg goalscorer Marco Asensio and Borja Mayoral are expected to be rotated in once more, but Dani Ceballos is missing with a sprained ankle.
Ronaldo’s long term future at Madrid remains in doubt, with sources close to the player having told ESPN FC in recent weeks that he aims to leave next summer if agreement cannot be found over a new contract.
El Transistor radio show reported that Ramos, Marcelo and Luka Modric visited Ronaldo’s house for dinner and tried to convince him to stay at the club.
Meanwhile, Leganes coach Asier Garitano has criticised the media storm that followed Ronaldo’s use of a mobile phone to see for the extent of the facial injury suffered as he scored his second goal of the game.
“It is crazy that we are worried about whether Cristiano had a mobile phone or not, when he scored a spectacular goal,” Garitano said at a news conference.
